!! NEW DEADLINE: 25 OCT 2022
!! NEW ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
The Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), within the framework of the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Mission 4 "Education and Research" - Component 2 "From Research to Enterprise", Investment 1.2 "Funding of Projects Submitted by Young Researchers", with Notice No. 247 of 19-08-2022 finances the allocation of at least 700 research grants to young researchers The Notice was modified by the Notice n. 367 of 7-10-2022, introducing important modification to the eligibility criteria and a new deadline:
- for all categories, the requirement “minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 7 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree” does not apply any longer. Candidates having obtained their PhD at any time are now eligible;
- the deadline for submitting the proposal to the MUR was postponed to the 25th of October 2022;
- the terms for having completed the MSCA IF/PF project have been extended from 12 to 48 months (to be calculated from the 7th of October 2022)
- the terms for having obtained the MSCA IF/PF SoE have been extended from 24 to 48 months (to be calculated from the 7th of October 2022)
The initiative targets the following applicant:
1. Principal Investigator with an ongoing ERC Starting grant, won under calls of Horizon 2020 or Horizon Europe, who have chosen a foreign Host Institution.
ERC grantees will have to submit a project complementary to their current ERC to the MUR by 25th of October, choosing at least 3 different vacancies in order of preference from the list published here. Host institutions evaluate the received proposals through internally appointed evaluation committees. They must complete the evaluation within 30 days from the proposal submission deadline (Oct. 25) and then send a report with scores to the MUR within another 15 days. MUR will provide a ranking list. In case of ex aequo in multiple host institutions, it will go by order of preference of the ERC grantee.
Winners will have to bring the ERC grant to the Italian host institution (grant portability). The Italian host institution will have to make a direct call (“chiamata diretta”) as second-rank professor (“Professore di seconda fascia”) at the ERC grantee. The project will be 100% reimbursed, for maximum 1 million EUR and will last 3 years.
2. winners of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships under Horizon 2020 and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships under Horizon Europe, whose project is completed or ends between 7th of October 2018 and 7th of October 2022.
The MSCA fellow submits to a Host Institution a project proposal consequential to the completed MSCA (without going through the MUR portal). The Host Institution evaluates the project, with internally appointed committees. If the evaluation is positive, the MSCA fellow signs an agreement with the host institution and submits the application to the MUR by 25th of October 2022 (attaching project submitted to the host, host evaluation report and agreement). MUR draws up the ranking list; in case of ex aequo, priority is given to young researchers. Host institutions of selected projects will have to make a direct call of the researcher as Fixed-term Researcher (RTD-A). The project will be 100% funded project, for a maximum of 300,000 EUR, for a duration of 3 years.
