International Degree Equivalency

If you have a degree from a foreign university, you must request its equivalency to the Rector of the University of Pisa attaching the following documents:

  • High School diploma: either the original or an authenticated copy, legalized (or with an "apostille"), officially translated into Italian. The diploma must be presented together with a Declaration of Value issued by the Italian diplomatic representatives (embassy or consulate) of the country where it was obtained or alternatively ENIC-NARIC certification of COMPARABILITY (go on: www.cimea.it - "Servizi");

    Please note: For the submission of the application for all study courses in the area of Medicine (Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry) and Health Professions, it is necessary to attach the ENIC-NARIC VERIFICATION declaration to the documentation, certifying that a foreign qualification from the higher education system has been issued to the holder by an Official Body in the reference system. The ENIC-NARIC certification of COMPARABILITY is also required with an indication of the level of the foreign qualification with reference to the cycles of the Bologna Process and the levels of the European Qualifications Framework, which must be produced if the Declaration of Value lacks this information (to request the ENIC-NARIC Certificate go to: www.cimea.it - "Servizi");
  • Original certificate listing all exams taken in order to achieve the foreign academic degree. This list must be officially translated into Italian;
  • Course descriptions, for the exams taken, on the foreign university's letterhead paper (or with official stamp) and officially translated into Italian.
  • A non-authenticated copy of all the above documentation (except for the description of the courses taken mentioned at number 4)
  • Photocopy of an identification document
  • Photocopy of the residency permit where the reason for which it was issued is clearly stated
  • Receipt of payment of 200.00 euros, which covers administrative costs. You must pay for this amount at the post office, indicating the account number 150565 and the name UNIVERSITÀ DI PISA - ACCREDITI VARI - SERVIZIO TESORERIA - Lungarno Pacinotti, 43, 56100 Pisa. Also, write the reason for payment (causale): RIC TI. 
    For those who are unable to pay by postal order, it is possible to pay by bank transfer by sending the payment receipt of € 200.00: IBAN IT37K0856270910000000115646 BIC / SWIFT BCCFIT33 Cashier institution: Banca di Pisa and Fornacette - account in the name of: University of Pisa, Lungarno Pacinotti, 43- 56126 Pisa - Reason: personal data and RIC TI code.
    Please note: The recognition fee must be paid before sending all the documentation necessary to start the procedure. We inform you that any renunciation of the application for recognition does not entitle you to request a refund of the amount paid

The complete documentation (as in the list above) can be sent by post with the words: Request for equivalence of foreign qualification: to the International Relations Office - International Mobility Unit - Lungarno Pacinotti, 44 - 56100 - Pisa - or delivered by hand to the University Protocol Section in Lungarno Pacinotti, 43/44 - Administrative Offices - ground floor - internal garden atrium, by appointment only, in compliance with the University's anti-contagion measures, by booking through the following telephone numbers: 050 2212 161/526 / 035. The Protocol Section is open on the following days: from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 13.00, and also in the afternoon from 15.00 to 17.00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY UNIT receives students ONLY BY APPOINTMENT on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9 to 12 in Lungarno Pacinotti, 44- Pisa, at Palazzo Vitelli. It is necessary to show the Green Pass.

* Please note: Non-EU citizens legally residing in Italy are considered, pursuant to art. 26 of the Law of 30.7.2002 n. 189, non-EU citizens holding an EC residence permit for long-term stays or a residence permit for subordinate or self-employed work, family reasons, political asylum, humanitarian asylum or religious reasons.
