The inauguration of the new edition of the Foundation curse took place on Thursday the 12th of September, in the Aula PAO E1, Department of Civiltà e Forme del Sapere. The FC of the University of Pisa is one of the few Italian programs which gives the possibility to non-EU students, in particular American students, to reach the minimum requirements of our legislation to enroll to University. The program is one-year long and it is divided into two main paths (Humanities and Science), and its purpose is to integrate the peparation and fill in the possible learning gaps of international students who want to enroll in an Italian University.
In both the curricula, there is also the study of the Italian language to obtain up to the B2 level, requirement necessary to enroll in a University study course in Italy held in Italian language.
The opening cerimony was held by: Prof. Silvia Bruti (Director of the Interdepartimental Linguistic Centre), Prof. Arturo Marzano (Academic Coordinator of the Foundation Course Humanities), Prof. Chiara Roda (Academic Coordinator of the Foundation Course Science), Dr. Paola Cappellini (Responsible of the International Cooperation Unit), Dr. Adio Terranova and Dr. Arianna Biancani (Logistic Coordinators of the Foundation Course).
About 30 students subscribed to this edition, the nationalities were many, for example: Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Bolivia, Netherlands, U.S.A, Romania, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Ucraina and India. After the presentation of the two curricula of study and of the services offered from the University, all the students held the italian language level test, and the Science students have also taken the Mathematics test.
