Dear all,
As you probably have learned from the media, yesterday the Italian Prime Minister issued a decree that extends the measures to contain the spread of the Coronavirus infection to the entire national territory. As an implementation to this provision, a Rector's decree is heading, whose essential contents are here resumed:
• Starting from tomorrow, Thursday 5 March 2020 and until 15 March 2020, all in- presence teaching activities are suspended, in all Degree Programmes, as well as in postgraduate vocational Programmes, PhD Programmes, and Specialization Schools (excluding those in the healthcare area);
• Starting from Monday 9 March 2020, a phased approach to distance teaching is foreseen; you will be further informed on its implementation methodology. As for the days 5 and 6 March, no distance teaching is envisioned;
• Graduation sessions and exams are not suspended but will be assured in the short term using all possible precautions to avoid public gathering and with a limited access to buildings and classrooms; in perspective, they shall be assured using telematic facilities;
• All events that may cause crowding are suspended, when the interpersonal safety distance of at least one meter is not guaranteed.
I wish to point out that the adopted measures do not represent in any way the closure of the University, but only precautionary measures to modify the performance of some activities but still continuing to fulfill all services.
I rely on your collaboration and understanding,
Kind Regards,
Paolo M. Mancarella
Rettore – Università di Pisa
