Coronavirus Sars-Cov-2 update statement - 2 March 2020

To all members of the University of Pisa community

Following the epidemiological evolution of the disease COVID-19 caused by the Coronavirus SARS-Cov_2 in Italy and based on the latest ordinances, all students, administrative, technical, and teaching staff and researchers are requested to follow the advice below as a precautionary measure.

Let us point out that if anyone of you in the past 14 days:

- entered Italy after staying in foreign countries where the local transmission of the infection is significant according to the indications of the World Health Organization (up to the present day namely, China, South Korea and Iran)

- has passed through or stopped in one of the municipalities as listed in Annex 1 of the Prime Minister's Decree of 01/03/2020

Students with symptoms of cough, fever or shortness of breath, MUST NOT ATTEND CLASSES or any other curricular or extracurricular activities, and all teaching, administrative and technical staff and researchers with these symptoms must not go to work (they should follow the relevant authorized absence process). You are also reminded to contact the special number set up by the local health authority (ASL) or the emergency number 1500 of the Ministry of Health and inform the healthcare professionals of any trips or contacts you have had with subjects at risk in previous weeks, and also inform your own GP/family doctor.

In order to ensure responsible behaviour, the University will exempt students from attending classes if they are required by the above-mentioned ordinances to follow the measures therein. The University will undertake to provide the necessary subject and degree exam sessions to guarantee that students reach their educational objectives in any case.

If you are experiencing symptoms that worry you, please do not go to the hospital or emergency room, but call your general practitioner (medico di base) to find out the best conduct to have. If you cannot, for whatever reason, contact your general practitioner (medico di base), try calling:

- the toll-free number of the Regione Toscana 800.556060, selecting option 1, from Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM;
- the emergency health service (for Pisa 050 959866), on weekdays from 8.00 PM to 8.00 AM and on weekends from Saturdays 8.00 AM up to the following Mondays at 8.00 AM. At this link all emergency health service phone numbers of USL Toscana Nord Ovest.

For any further information, the public utility number is 1500, available h24/24.
