Pisa Book Festival and the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics of Pisa University announce the three finalists of the third edition of the Pisa Book Translation Award:

- Marie-Hélène Lafon, Storia del figlio, transl. by Antonella Conti, Fazi editore, 2022 (French edition, Histoire du fils, 2020)
The winner will be announced during the award ceremony on Friday the 29th of September 2023, during the 21st edition of Pisa Book Festival, the independent publishing fair, scheduled from Thursday 28th September to Sunday 1st October 2023.
In the same context, a Distinguished Career Prize will be awarded to Renata Colorni. Winner of several prestigious prizes for literary translation (Monselice Prize 1991, Grinzane Cavour Prize 1995, Feltrinelli Prize 2007), Renata Colorni has significantly contributed to the knowledge of seminal texts of 20th-century literature in German, thanks to her Italian translations of, among others, Freud, Schnitzler, Th. Mann, Canetti, Dürrenmatt and Bernhard.
The Pisa Book Translation Award is addressed to Italian translations of narrative works published by independent Italian publishers. The prize aims to valorise the translators’ contribution to the dissemination of knowledge and intercultural exchanges.
The third edition has featured the participation of twenty narrative texts – ranging from short story collections to novels and memoirs – translated from seven different languages (Dutch, English, French, German, Norwegian, Serbian, Spanish) and belonging to European and non-European literary cultures.
The Prize jury, chaired by Roberta Ferrari, Head of the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics, is composed of five more members: Alberto Casadei, Lucia Della Porta, Enrico Di Pastena, Serena Grazzini, Andrea Nuti, all experts in the fields of literature, linguistics and translation.
