In the week from 22 to 28 June, 34 Chinese students arrived in Pisa for an internship period to be carried out in various facilities at our university. The students are enrolled in the two double master’s degrees, one in Marine Biology and one in Food Biosecurity and Quality, that the University of Pisa has activated with Zhejiang Ocean University.
The partnership with the university in China dates back to 2015 and in 2017 led to the establishment of the “Zhejiang Ocean University – University of Pisa Marine Graduate School”, the only Sino-Italian school officially recognised by the Chinese government. This year the face-to-face internship took place for the first time in Pisa, made impossible until now because of the pandemic.
Representatives of the university’s International Office welcomed 34 Chinese students and their teachers at Palazzo Vitelli and after a presentation and a visit to Palazzo alla Giornata and La Sapienza, the programme went underway with speeches by the lecturers of the two departments, coordinated by the directors of the two programmes, Professor Ferruccio Maltagliati and Professor Andrea Serra. The internship was carried out in the facilities of the two departments and concluded with a visit to the “Enrico Avanzi” Agro-Environmental Research Centre.
