About 40 the first graduated the students of Foundation Course 2022/23. The official graduation ceremony took place on 29 June. The University’s course allows international students to complete the schooling necessary to enrol in a bachelor’s degree
During a ceremony held in the Aula Convegni of the Polo Piagge, the University of Pisa handed over the final certificates to the first students who obtained the title.
Present to greet the students, on behalf of the rector, was Prof. Giovanni Federico Gronchi, pro-rector of Cooperation and International Relations, along with Prof. Marco Polini, head of the Foundation Course Science (FCS), and Prof. Maria Lossi, lecturer in Philosophy of the FC Humanities, present on behalf of Prof. Arturo Marzano, who is the head of the programme. Also present were the staff of the International Cooperation Unit, coordinated by Dr. Paola Cappellini.
The Foundation Course is an academic year-long programme that serves to bridge the gap in education for international students who cannot directly access a Bachelor’s degree course at Italian Universities.
Now in its seventh year, the Foundation Course has grown year by year to over 110 students in the 2022-23 academic year.
The University of Pisa was the first Italian university to activate this course in 2016, which has already been present in most important European universities for several years. By attending the Foundation Course and passing the relevant exams, students can continue their academic career by enrolling in a Bachelor’s degree course at the University of Pisa.
