The PhD programme in Ingegneria dell'Informazione of the University of Pisa (UNIPI) is benefiting from an important cooperation with the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia one of the top-level Institutions in Italy and Europe in the field of Robotics, Materials Science, Neuroscience, etc.. In the picture you can see our latest new friend, the WALKMAN robot, that has been developed as a result of a collaboration between IIT and UNIPI, with the scientific coordination of Nikos Tsagarakis (IIT) and Prof. Antonio Bicchi (Pisa and IIT) and with the contribution of PhD students from Pisa.
WALKMAN stands between the PhD coordinator Marco Luise (on the right-hand side) and one of the principal investigators of the project, a former PhD student at UNIPI and who is now an IIT Researcher, Arash Ajoudani. After Arash met the Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, and presented his research, he will now come to Pisa and deliver a PhD programme on the interaction between Humans and Robots.
Next year, our PhD programme will feature 5 positions with grants offered by IIT on different topics in Robotics. In order to qualify, candidates will need to go through an admission procedure (selection based on CV and a Skype interview) especially oriented to international students. The PhD programme will take place mainly at IIT Genova, while the basic learning and training activities will be carried out in Pisa.
More information on the admission procedure can be found at http://phd.dii.unipi.it/en/. More information on the research subjects funded by IIT can be obtained by contacting prof. Bicchi (Questo indirizzo email è protetto dagli spambots. È necessario abilitare JavaScript per vederlo.) and/or Mr. Ajoudani (Questo indirizzo email è protetto dagli spambots.
