SEND Mobility Consortium
Unipi Team Leader: Giovanni Federico Gronchi, Vice Rector for Cooperation and International Relations
This action supports physical and blended mobility of higher education students and staff from EU Member States and third countries associated to Erasmus+ to any country in the world. Students in all study fields and cycles can take part in a study period or traineeship abroad. Higher education teaching and administrative staff can take part in professional development activities abroad, as well as staff from the field of work in order to teach and train students or staff at higher education institutions.
Mobility consortium description
SEND Consortium is a strategic alliance between HEIs and private organizations, that share expertise, know-how and networks in order to create a "mobility system" around the topic of Social and Technical-economic Innovation.
In specific, the Consortium includes:
- SEND job agency and international mobility center (cordinator);
- garagErasmus Foundation, first official network of the Erasmus generation developed in collaboration with the European Commission (intermediary body);
- Thirteen Universities from 9 Italian Regions (sending institutions) where young innovators are trained thanks to study, degree and post-graduation courses: UNI Venezia Ca' Foscari; UNI Padova, UNI Parma, UNI Ferrara, UNI Politecnica delle Marche, UNI Pisa, UNI Bari, UNI Palermo, UNI Catania, UNI Kore-Enna, UNI Roma Tor Vergata, UNI Napoli Federico II, UNI Cagliari.
Specific objectives of the Consortium are:
1. Strengthen a strategic alliance among HEIs, organizations of the labour market and international companies, already developed in 6 years activities, to valorize mobility for traineeship and training and create a network of actors and experts in the filed of Social, Technical and Economical Innovation.
2. Increase the employability and self-entrepreneurship of university students, recent graduates and phd students of any year and field of study, by offering quality and inclusive mobility opportunities (also blended) in the field of Social, Technical and Economical Innovation.
3) Support the personal and professional development of the teaching and administrative HEIs staff, by giving them the opportunity to carry out training experiences abroad and/ or blended, in order to learn new technologies and methods of teaching and learning, to develop transnational and trans-disciplinary curricula, to share and transfer good practices in cutting-edge sectors related to Social, Technical and Economical Innovation.
With the aim to create a quality "mobility system", the Consortium’s activities will be complemented by preparatory (incoming) and work inclusion/new career perspectives (outgoing) activities throughout the further development and updating of the web platform (https://mobility.sendsicilia.it/) and the organization of online training/events. Thanks to these activities, the participants will be able to: better guide themselves in the European and national labour market and carry out effective job-application, self-assess their incoming and outgoing skills in order to design or re-design their training and professional path, find an organization more coherent with their learning goals, broaden their view about new employment opportunities, career and research.
Annual meetings, decision sharing process, participation in the activities implementation, clear, functional and transparent roles are the key elements that will characterize the working group of the Consortium.
Through targeted communication activities, the network with the companies, already registered on the SEND platform (about 200), will be strengthened, as well as it will be enriched of new companies operating in the field of Social, Technical and Economical Innovation. These sectors are booming nowadays at European level. They interact with each other, by including a range of disciplines and leading-edge professionals, such as energy managers, engineers and architects specialized in green building, computer engineering specialized in robotics, artificial intelligence, social media manager, project manager and so on...
The expected impact will mostly affect the participants who will increase their employability and career perspectives by learning and strengthening basic, transversal and technical-professional skills and by increasing their sense of European citizenship. In addition, HEIs staff will be able to acquire pedagogical skills and the ability to bring about changes in terms of research modernization, teaching and openness to internalization.
The Consortium will take full advantage of these education, training and networking opportunities, by considering them the engine for job creation, economic growth, social cohesion, innovation, European cooperation and mitigation of skills gap . By setting up a "mobility system" and sharing experiences among Consortium members, it will be possible to respond more effectively to individual and collective needs with the aim of a rapid post-Covid recovery aimed at leaving no one behind.
