Following the approval of the Presidential Decree of the Council of Ministers (DPCM) dated 4 March 2020 bearing measures to contrast and contain the spread of the Coronavirus over the entire national territory, the Rector, Paolo Mancarella, has sent the following message to all teaching staff, students, administrative and technical staff of the University of Pisa to announce that from Thursday 5 March until 15 March all frontal teaching will be suspended, while degree sessions and midterm exams will continue. “I wish to to point out,” emphasized the Rector, “the adopted measures do not represent in any way the closure of the University, but only precautionary measures to modify the performance of some activities but still continuing to fulfill all service".

Following the epidemiological evolution of the disease COVID-19 caused by the Coronavirus SARS-Cov_2 in Italy and based on the latest ordinances, all students, administrative, technical, and teaching staff and researchers are requested to follow the advice below as a precautionary measure.
Let us point out that if anyone of you in the past 14 days:
- entered Italy after staying in foreign countries where the local transmission of the infection is significant according to the indications of the World Health Organization(up to the present day namely, China, South Korea and Iran)
- has passed through or stopped in one of the municipalities as listed in Annex 1 ofthe Prime Minister's Decree of 01/03/2020

If you are experiencing symptoms that worry you, please do not go to the hospital or emergency room, but call your general practitioner (medico di base) to find out the best conduct to have. If you cannot, for whatever reason, contact your general practitioner (medico di base), try calling:

Ten rules to follow
- Wash your hands frequently
- Maintain social distancing with people who present acute respiratoryinfections
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
- When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose
- Do not take antiviral drugs or antibiotics unless prescribed by your doctor
- Clean surfaces using alcohol or bleach-based disinfectants
- Wear a face mask if you suspect you are sick or when caring for sick people
- Goods MADE IN CHINA and parcels from China are not dangerous
- Pets do not spread the new coronavirus
- If in doubt do not go to the A&E Unit (Pronto Soccorso) at the hospital but contact your GP/family doctor. Call the free emergency line 112 if you believe you have contracted the disease
