- HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST AT UNIPI
First part: registration for the ITA L2 bravo! Test CISIA
1. Register on the Alice portal (select “Registrazione” in the MENU at the top right). Important: Applicants must register using the exact personal details from their passport. In the event of discrepancies, identity verification before the test will not be possible.- 2. Log in using the login credentials you received by e-mail after registration (select “Login” in the MENU at the top right).
- 3. From the MENU, first select “Segreteria” and then “Iscrizione test di valutazione”.
- 4. In the “Corso di studio", select “ITA-L2 bravo!”.
- 5. Select the TEST ITA-L2 bravo! you wish to take (only one date can be selected).
- 6. Continue to the page where the payment of the registration fee for the ITA L2 TEST is required, which amounts to EUR 35.00.
- 7. Complete the payment process by clicking on the "fattura" number.
- IMPORTANT! Registration for the ITA L2 test will be considered final only after payment of the registration fee.
- IF YOU HAVE PASSED the ITA L2 TEST with a mark equal to or higher than 55/72, you will need to upload the CISIA certificate with the result of the ITA L2 TEST on the Universitaly ministerial portal as part of your pre-enrolment application.
Second part: registration for the remote interview to verify oral production skills
Only candidates who have obtained at least 55 correct answers out of 72 in the ITA L2 bravo! TEST will be eligible to register for the remote interview organised by the CLI to verify their oral production skills.
The CLI remote interviews will be organised in five sessions in June, July, September, October and November 2025, according to the calendar published on the CLI website, where the dates, registration methods and payment deadlines of the interview are published.- The remote interview to verify oral production skills is reserved exclusively for those who have passed the ITA L2 bravo! TEST with a minimum score of 55/72 and can be taken only once.
Remember that:
• The ITA L2 bravo! TEST it is not repeatable at the Pisa seat, and the minimum score required to pass it is 55/72.
• The ITA L2 bravo! TEST obtained at other Italian universities affiliated with CISIA will be valid for enrolment at the University of Pisa, provided that it has been passed with a minimum score of 55/72 and supplemented by passing the remote interview to verify oral production skills, organised by the CLI.
Italian Language Proficiency Test a.y. 2025-2026
NON-EU citizens applying for a study visa to enrol in Italian-language Bachelor’s, Master’s or Single-Cycle Master’s Degree courses at the University of Pisa must demonstrate a B2 level of Italian language proficiency, as indicated in the ministerial note.
Cases of exemption from the Italian language proficiency test
Students who hold a B2 level certificate of Italian language proficiency from the Council of Europe, issued under the CLIQ (Certificazione Lingua Italiana di Qualità) quality system, are exempt from the Italian language proficiency test. These certifications are issued by accredited certification bodies, including:
• University for Foreigners of Perugia
• University for Foreigners of Siena
• Roma Tre University
• “Dante Alighieri” Society
• “Dante Alighieri” University for Foreigners of Reggio Calabria
• Other accredited bodies, such as Italian Cultural Institutes abroad
These certifications can be obtained both in Italy and abroad, at affiliated examination centres. For other exemption cases, please refer to the ministerial note.
Italian language proficiency test for applicants without certification
Applicants who do not have one of the above certifications must pass an Italian language proficiency test, which consists of two parts:
- ITA L2 bravo! TEST Applicants must take the ITA L2 bravo! TEST through the CISIA portal, on the dates available for the academic year 2025/2026 (see the dates available at the Italian Universities affiliated with CISIA). The minimum grade required to pass the test is 55/72.
- Remote interview Only candidates who have obtained a mark equal to or higher than 55/72 in the ITA L2 bravo! TEST will be able to access the second part of the test: a remote interview to verify their oral production skills. This interview will be organised by the Language Centre of the University of Pisa (CLI).
The Italian language proficiency test will be considered passed and valid for enrolment in Italian-language degree courses at the University of Pisa only if the applicant’s remote interview with the CLI is successful.
