The Marco Polo programme is an agreement between the Italian and the Chinese Government to facilitate young Chinese students to study at the Italian universities.
Chinese students applying for the Marco Polo programme are required to follow the pre-enrollment application for Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or single cycle Degree Programme among the University degree programmes with quotas of reserved places according to terms and schedules detailed on http://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/ section "Progetto Marco Polo 2023/2024".
After the pre-enrollment, if an Italian Language course is required for these Chinese students, it is recommended that the Italian language course duration is not less than 10 months and foresees preferably 80 to 100 monthly hours to guarantee a consistent and continuous exposure to the Italian Language to obtain a B1 starting level with the aim of a progressive language skills improvement in the following years.
Applicants are required to specify in the pre-enrollment application on the Universitaly platform (link a Universitaly) both the selected University for enrollment and the University/School to attend the Italian Language course, with the option of 10 or 11 months.
The University of Pisa, as part of the Marco Polo-Turandot Programme, organizes a 10-month Italian language and culture course for a total of 1000 hours. Students interested in choosing the University of Pisa for the attendance of the Italian language course as well as location for the registration of the course of study, must apply for pre-enrolment by 26 August 2022, as if they choose any other 10-month Italian course attendance location.
For those Universities choosing to activate experimental Italian Language Course of a 11 months period, the deadline for pre-enrollment of Chinese students is on 29 July 2022.
Please note:
In addition to the documents normally required to international students at the enrollment to the selected University “Marco Polo” students should also submit the an Italian Language certificate (minimum level B1) obtained in Italy.
In case applicants are interested in a Master's degree programme, they must also submit:
- The “Transcript of records” containing all exams passed to obtain the foreign academic Bachelor’s degree programme in their home University (translated into Italian language)
- The “Syllabus” containing each passed exams detailed programme in the aforementioned certificate (see par.1) (on home University official letterhead or validated by the University stamp, translated into Italian language).
